I suggest buying a cheap sitar to practice jawari on. I would find some old random sitar, and buy a couple of extra bridges at the same time. That way you can practice carving jawari while still being able to practice and play on your good sitar. I promise you that if you dive into your nice sitar with a file and chisel you will regret it.
