Birds may be beneficial, neutral or harmful to man’s interests, depending upon time, location and activity. Birds that may be a pest in South Africa may be pigeons, sparrows, starlings, sea gulls and Indian mynahs.
Birds droppings, or bird feathers could lie underneath the areas where birds are nesting.If low enough you might find the nesting areas, they will be different according to the different species of birds.You may also find the flock of birds together in the area where they are causing damage.
Birds are often carriers of various diseases, including histoplasmosis, salmonellosis, encephalitis, coccidiomyosis and aspergillosis. These diseases are distributed through the bird droppings.
Packaging material can be contaminated with droppings and feathers, nesting materials and bird body parts.
They could feed on your product and contaminate it during the feeding process.
Dead and decomposing birds will attract insects, and can become sources of dermestids, flies and other insect pests

Every situation will need a different type of bird proofing application. In case over large areas we can use eagle eye machines which is a patented device used to scare birds away normally used at roof tops this coupled with a nightmare sound system can produce very good results.
For areas where the birds are just perching on beams on roof tops we would use bird spikes to stop them from being able to sit there.
If it is a large area to cover we would also use bird proof netting to deny birds access to that area.
There are also bird repellent gels that we use in certain situations.
